Temperature & Humidity Control: Tuning Your Grow Tent Microclimate

Plants have different environmental requirements across seedling, vegetative and flowering stages, and a grow tent lets gardeners precisely adjust temperature and humidity. For seedlings and young clones, keep humidity between 65% and 75% with temperatures around 72–78°F, to support fast root development.
During the vegetative growth phase, drop humidity to 55–70% while maintaining steady warm temperatures. When plants enter flowering, reduce humidity further to 40–55% to stop botrytis and powdery mildew from forming. Temperatures should stay within 70–80°F during light hours and can drop slightly when lights turn off.
Always place hygrometer and temperature sensors at canopy height, not on the tent floor or directly under the grow light, to get accurate readings. If your space runs hot, boost exhaust fan speed or add small cooling devices. Dry indoor air in winter may require humidifiers. Smart grow tent controllers can automatically adjust fans and equipment to maintain stable conditions, removing guesswork for home growers.
